Marian Francis Hastings Smalley

Marian Hastings was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1866. She decorated wares at Rookwood pottery only during the period of 1899 through 1902. She executed mostly floral themes in Standard Glaze. In 1903, she married another Rookwood artist, Francis William Vreeland. They moved to new York where they established a studio and created works for the National Arts Club. Marian died in Hollywood, California in the year 1957. Collector interest in her pieces is considered to be average.
